Welcome!

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web-based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year-long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering. The Institute for Medical Research is a fictitious name for a research laboratory that is part of a university.  This urban university is located in the heart of a major northeastern United States city, and both the university and the city itself made an impact on the architectural style of the building.  A unique mix of old and new, the Institute for Medical Research creates a unique environment for professors, students, researchers, and members of the community to come together.

The idea that the building could create an environment for relationships between the different building occupants drove the overarching concept of "symbiosis." This concept was used to develop all of the lighting design decisions, from the conceptual phase through documentation.
